SEN Provision
At Little Paxton Pre-School we are extremely proud of the support we offer our SEN children.
Through regular observations and target assessments we identify any needs early in the children’s learning journey.
We work with Parents/carers to identify any concerns that they may have with their child’s development and if required we will start our assessment cycles and refer for some Early Help Support.
We work closely with other agencies to ensure that strategies and targets are worked to, all the time being sensitive to our parents/carers wellbeing.
We have secured funding for many of our SEN children and have worked closely with the transition school to ensure that this support is consistent and continued, involving parents/carers at all times throughout this journey.
We aim for all of our children to be the ‘best they can be’ and our setting to be a positive experience for the whole family.

"Little Paxton Preschool is the perfect set up to help your child create an easy transition into their school life. This is because the staff are patient, kind and actually have your child’s best interests at heart, whilst making every day super fun! My son has been in the school just over a year now and the difference in his level of understanding is amazing. He was a little lost before he started, but with their help and guidance, they helped us discover that he is autistic and have created a world for him that he truly adores. I honestly couldn’t be more thankful that we picked this school, it is wonderful."

News
Project – Sensory/Quiet area.
We have found due to the layout of the environment a separate area would be ideal for our Pre-School.
We were very fortunate to have a huge store area within the main playroom, we gave this some thought about how best to use this space and came up with the idea to transform this into an area to carry out more quiet focussed activities, a chill out area (when needed) and an area to stimulate and focus our SEN children.
Before the lockdown, we had cleared the area out, sorted through the resources and acquired some large storage cupboards from the Primary School which we are extremely grateful for. We have positioned these just outside the Pre-School room. Without this storage we would not have been able to use the space for our area as this was where all of our equipment was stored!
The quiet area is now decorated and kitted out with the help of funding from a local group, and is being well used- see the photo below!
